We were invited to try out the Wonder Brunch last Friday from 1-4pm. They have a large seating area which can accommodate large groups, easy access to their terrace/pool and even private rooms for families. Though we enjoyed our quiet corner, its best to get a seat in the middle of the hall so that you can be served right away!
Packages are: AED 279 buffet with soft drinks and AED 349 buffet with house beverages, grape and hops. Available every Friday at Sofra bld, Shangri-La Hotel Abu Dhabi on Fridays from 1-4pm. For reservation, please email at reservations.slad@shangri-la.com or call Toll-Free 800 0600 0201
The food section is pretty grand there as they have so many different types of stations. Here are my favourite and must visit stations:
- Sashimi and Sushi Bar (there’s a whole tuna there!)
- Asian Corner (complete with a hanging duck)
- Live cooking station for Pasta (serving Penne and Bowtie)
- Noodle Bar (made to order, they have ready to serve chicken or beef broth)
- Oyster Station
- Arabic Mezze and Salad Bar
- Grilled Meats and Skewers
- Fresh Seafood Bar – calamari, mussels
- Moroccon Station
- Desserts x 3 – The desserts are always my favourite at Shangri La, they have two types of chocolate fountains complete with a live waffle/crepe station
Apart from the delicious food offerings, their WonderBrunch really has some wonderful touches to it. They have live music – a saxophone player with a DJ to keep the crowd pleasant. As well, a magician came walking around to wow everyone with his tricks! A chocolate making workshop was available for the kids as well as some arts/crafts sessions.
Around 3pm we started heading out to their terrace to enjoy the complimentary pool/beach access. Shangri-La has one of the best infinity pools in Abu Dhabi as it overlooks the iconic Grand Mosque. We found a few families there but did not find it to be too crowded. They provide chairs, towels and bottled water for their pool guests. If you want a perfect day in Abu Dhabi, consider spending it at the Wonder Brunch at Shangri-La!
