Need a last minute Valentines Day idea? Enjoy an afternoon at a special edition chocolate making masterclass at Southern Sun. All couples who book an afternoon tea at their lobby lounge (Filaments Lounge) will receive a fully complimentary chocolate making masterclass on February 12. Read on for all the details!
The Class
I was lucky enough to preview the chocolate making masterclass with Chef Don, Chef Manish and others who walked us through the art of chocolate making, from “bean to bar”. In this class you will receive a booklet of information detailing the bean harvesting process, the roasting, the grinding and the quality of the chocolate. I love my chocolate dark. 
Don’t be afraid to put on an apron and gloves to get the best hands-on experience – your chocolate will taste even better! During the two hour class we made variations of handcrafted chocolates, my favorites were the truffles! Apart from chocolates, we also made the garnish and learned how to mold the chocolate into different shapes and designs. I was really impressed with the chefs as they created chocolate layers to wrap around cakes.
The Afternoon Tea
Apart from the class, we also got to enjoy a buffet of afternoon tea snacks with a selection of teas. There were three kinds of scones available, alongside half a dozen savory toasts topped with variations of meat, cheese, egg, etc. My favorite part was the macarons and of course the chocolates!

The Valentines Afternoon Tea is available daily from February 8-14 for AED 95+++ pp. This also includes a fully complimentary chocolate making session held on February 12 at 3pm!
