Waterlemon Restaurant and Café, Al Bateen, Abu Dhabi, UAE
Last week I was invited along with PR and Media staff to sample a set menu of their best features. Keep reading below for all the delicious bites and photos of 12 dishes I tried there.
Arrival
Waterlemon is located in the Al Bateen area among an array of restaurants and cafes. I found this location to be quite calm, relaxing and could feel the water breeze. The terrace had ample seating and could fit dozens of tables, however, there is no view of the water from here.
I was greeted with a drink to start, they had two types of lemonades for the sample menu – a berry lemonade and an original. I found them both to be quite refreshing but wished they had a few more options for different palettes.
Starters
We started with the assorted bites (45 dhs) -they look so lovely and I love the assortment – tomato garlic, feta cheese with pesto, eggplant and parmesan cheese. Among the appetizers, I also tried their dynamite shrimps (46 dhs), hot buffalo wings (42 dhs) and calamari(42 dhs). The dynamite shrimps were alright but I felt the crispy tempura did not stick well to the shrimp – nonetheless it tasted good and was a great starter for sharing. The hot buffalo wings were not spicy at all in my opinion, this dish was just average to me. Lastly the calamari tasted very mild. Among these appetizers, the assortment of bites would be my go-to order.
Mains
I enjoyed dining at Waterlemon as most of the dishes they had were shareable and great for groups. I love to try everything so I am glad we were able to order a few dishes to share. They do great pizzas here at waterlemon, we had tasted their ulti meat (85 dhs), the margarita (55 dhs)and their black truffle pizza. If I could choose just one, I would definitely order their black truffle pizza again – this is definitely so unique and so picture-worthy. I have never before seen a black crust before. It smells amazing too from the truffle!
We also tried their trio burger (59 dhs) which I felt was done well but nothing amazing. I did enjoy the assortment as they had a black bun burger. The assortment they offered was – beef, chicken and kafta mini burgers with fries.
For their main courses – I enjoyed their options – salmon (95 dhs), stuffed grilled chicken (75 dhs) and rib eye steak (105 dhs). I think you could not go wrong with that menu, we tried everything and it was done according to our expectations. The stuffed grilled chicken caught my eye the most but my favorite would be the salmon. It was served with moghrabieh pesto, mango puree, sundried tomato, grilled artichokes and green beans. The moghrabiyeh balls were so unique and delicious.
Desserts
And the best part of the meal was definitely dessert. I have so many must-have dessert items from here. First off the chocolate dome is their crowd favorite – it comes in a dome shape chocolate ball, inside is filled with brownies and ice cream, topped with hot chocolate sauce to unveil the dessert. The special cheesecake is a must-order for the festive season. The cheesecake is presented in a chocolate house and topped with hot blueberry dressing. Its so cute and reminds me of the Christmas houses. Lastly I enjoyed the chocolate fondant, it was quite interesting as it was served surrounded with candy floss – that combination is pretty sweet!
Thank you to Waterlemon for inviting me to the tasting. I definitely have picked out my favorites and will be back again!
