Saray Yildizlar- Abu Dhabi, UAE
I found yet another perfect spot for a coffee/cake date! This beautiful antique cafe is situated in the Al Reem Island – Shams Boutiq Mall on the 2nd floor. You won’t miss it at all as it is beautifully decorated with bright and bold luxurious blue fabrics – Saray Yildizlar.
The Deal
They have a special for 23AED which includes a hot beverage and a slice of cake!
Their cakes feature really interesting flavours! I will definitely be back to see what new cakes they have in store. We tried a slice of the purple and white – sweet potato cake with real coconut layers. Alongside the cake, I paired it very well with a sweet mocha-chino.
The service was very fast and it was such a pleasant time sitting in the antique decorated cafe. Food and beverages were served on very nice silver trays. The best little trinket is the spoon which looks so beautifully handcrafted I wonder how long ago it was made! As you enjoy your food, the room features many displays of antique jars, spoons, glassware etc. The cafe itself can sit around 6-10 tables/lounge style groups. I sat on a love seat chair that was beautifully upholstered with their bold blue fabric with their cafe name embroidered in the middle.
Furthermore, the staff are very friendly and will check on you several times to make everything is up to your satisfaction. Not a lot of places in the city will train their staff to this level, and the small gestures such as pouring our coffee, making small talk, and even offering to exchange our beverages if we didn’t like it, all of that adds to high quality customer satisfaction. They also let us sampled some Turkish delights, which were absolutely lovely!
Coffee
The Turkish coffee is a bold cup of coffee. They will ask if you want it with milk or cream, which I tried with cream. While strong, it definitely was not bitter. I think the owner did a great job in selecting only the finest coffee beans or grains to make these delicious drinks.
During another visit, we also tried the Tunisian coffee, which has citrus zest in the drink. I can say that this is probably an acquired taste as the zest adds a texture and aftertaste to the coffee that I didn’t enjoy as much as I did the Turkish coffee. Although it may appeal to some specific coffee drinkers, I probably won’t try this again.
Lastly, their lattes and brewed coffees (including the iced ones) are always recommended as they make them to perfection in terms of temperature and sugar levels.
I definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves to try new flavors of cakes and sitting in fancy cafes!
